Feb 5 1933 – June 2, 2008 A well known and respected business man in both Cambridge and Bancroft areas,Glen McComb passed away in Kingston General Hospital in his 76th year on June 2, 2008. Born in Glen Morris ON, Glen was raised in a farming community. As an enterprising young man he bought his first truck when he was 16 and later built up a business hauling apples and grain. After selling the trucking business in 1967, he spent some time selling Real Estate. In 1971 he purchased his first store naming it Glen’s Variety and Gas Bar and Restaurant in Cambridge ON. A name it still retains. He operated this business for16 years, selling in 1987. In 1988 he purchased The Corner Store in Bancroft and re-named it Glen’s Corner Store, operating it from 1988 to 1997. He had a good relationship with all his customers and especially enjoyed the high school students both in Cambridge and in Bancroft. In fellowship at Graphite Bible Chapel he served as a Deacon for several years. A hard worker and astute businessman he worked hard to provide for his family. Survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Mildred, son Leslie Glen (Joe-Ann), Charlotte Martz (David), grandsons Steven (Yvonne) Martz and Jayson Martz, step grandchildren Kyla, Andrew and Seamus Townsend and great-grandchildren Leah and Jona Martz. Brothers Jack (Sylvia), Gordon (Joanne) and William and sister Bernice Brown. Predeceased by siblings Russell and Shirley and parents James and Jean McComb.Also missed by many nieces and nephews who have many fond memories of their Uncle Glen. Always remembered by Alyssa and Braydon Prong.Glen’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Bancroft Bible Chapel (106 Hastings St. N.) on Thursday 2-4 & 7- 9 p.m. Transfer will then be made to the Corbett Funeral Home (95 Dundas St. Cambridge) for visitation on Friday 2-4 & 7- 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Glen will take place at the Corbett Funeral Home, on Saturday, June 07, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Glen Morris Cemetery, Glen Morris. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Graphite Bible Camp, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
