It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Dossie at the Belleville General Hospital on June 10, 2011, five days before her 100th birthday. Born in Rogart Scotland June 15th, 1911. Predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years George, and her brothers and sisters also born in Rogart, Scotland; Christina, Alexander, Daisy, Hamish, Alexanderina, and her dear niece Doreen. Dossie immigrated to (Canada) Toronto in 1927. She worked at Thomson Grocer’s for many years, with her retirement in the 1970’s. She was a long time member of Cardiff United Church, Royal Canadian Legion Br#566 Ladies Auxilliary, Cardiff Community Club, where she enjoyed playing cards right up till May 2011, when she still got lone hands. She helped deliver Meals on Wheels well into her 80’s. George and Dossie wintered in Panama City Beach, Florida for many years, and belonged to the Snowbirds. Dossie will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Cardiff United Church on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Cardiff Community Club, for a Celebration of Life for Dossie’s 100 years. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Cardiff United Church would be appreciated by the family.
