Boone, Daphne Elizabeth

Boone, Daphne Elizabeth (Chaulk)   July 20, 1940 – February 24, 2010

Passed away peacefully at the North Hastings Hospital in Bancroft, February 24, 2010, in her 69th year, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Daphne was the much loved wife of Harold Henry Boone of Cardiff for the past 49 ½ years.  She was the best and strongest mom to Sharon and her husband Micheal Taaffe of Oshawa, Brenda and her husband Steve Wilson of Brampton, Denise Boone-Layzell of Cardiff and Robert Layzell of Brampton, Jennifer Boone-Gates and her husband Jeffrey Gates of Cardiff and Audrey Boone and her husband Wayne Irwin of Oshawa.  She was the most caring and involved Nanny to 2 step-grandchildren and 11 grandchildren:  Kayla and Siobhan; Zachary, Jacob and Lucas; Travis and Francis; Madison-Montanna, Bronwyn-Anne, Kenten-Jeffrey and Jayme-Lyn; and Taylor-Lynn and Haylee-Ann.  She was predeceased by her mother and father, Annie She and Robert Chaulk, both of Elliston, Newfoundland and her sister, Violet Trask of Elliston, Newfoundland. She is survived by her brothers Ray Chaulk and his wife Jessie of St. John's Newfoundland, Anthony Chaulk and his wife Joan of Red Deer, Alberta and her sister Jean Rose of Baie Vert, Newfoundland.  As well, she was the beloved “mom” and chauffeur to their dear “baby” dog Snowball. Daphne will be remembered by all for her determination, feistiness, strength and whole commitment to her family.  She was not one to hold back her opinions, even with Harold but she had the biggest heart when it came to forgiveness.  She was there for everyone and was truly a selfless person.
In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated and will have her ashes brought back home to Maberley, Newfoundland in the summer of 2010.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Daphne strongly requested no flowers.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to the North Hastings Hospital, Fund Development Office at Box 157, Bancroft, Ontario K0L 1C0, or for the family, care of M. G. Daly Funeral Home, would be most welcome.
