Menear, David William

Passed away suddenly, but peacefully in his 83rd year, at Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital, on Friday July 3rd, 2009.  Born in Toronto to Gertrude (nee Noble) and Harold (Harry) Menear.  Father to Stephen (deceased), John (of Orillia) and Peter (of Ottawa) with his first wife, Barbara Jean (nee Wills).  Husband to Edith Austin and father to Paul Austin-Menear (of Peterborough).  Predeceased by sister Gladys Herriot and loved dearly by grandson Samuel Menear (of Orillia) and nephews Bruce, Jimmy and Douglas Herriot as well as nieces Marilyn Herriot and Shirley Lane.  David resided in Bancroft for 23 years and previously in Kingston, Pembroke, Dawson City and Shashibee, James Bay as well as London, Scarborough, and Toronto.  David was employed as a teacher , principal and consultant in numerous City of Toronto and Renfrew County schools as well as a professor at Althouse College, University of Western Ontario in London.  Arrangements are in care of the M.G. Daly Funeral Home in Maynooth.  At David’s request, there will be no visitation and no service.   He wished to be remembered as people knew him in his lifetime.  Cremation has taken place at the Lakefield Crematorium.  If friends and family wish, tributes to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a Canadian charity of your choice would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.  Cards are available at M.G.
