We are saddened to announce the passing of Bill Green, age 94, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital, Bancroft. Bill Green, of Maynooth, was the beloved husband of 73 years of Patricia (Gallagher) Green. Much loved father of Michael (Irene) of Maynooth, Marian Ralph of Highland Grove, Maureen Kerr (Steve) of Peterborough, Carol Douglas of Maynooth, Lori Tyukodi (Steve) of Courtice, and Joseph Green of Maynooth. Devoted grandfather of Pat (Laura), Christine (Derek), Bryan, Tricia, Tyler (Alayna), Lee (Ashley), Justin (Marsha), Brodie (Kerri), Lucas, Eric, and Brennan. Great-grandfather of 11. Cherished brother of Ted Green (Marie), Aileen Flynn, Katherine Cannon (Vern), Claire Legault (Paul), Patsy Shalla (Richard). Bill is predeceased by his sons-in-law Mike Ralph and Bobby Douglas, his brothers Jack, Jim, Lawrence and Samuel, and his sisters Doris, Mary, and Anne. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and many friends. Bill will be remembered for his long life of service to his family, church and community. For many years he was involved with the St. Ignatius parish council, the Cemetery Board and the Catholic School Board, as well as the Maynooth Fire Department. Bill played hockey and coached the Bancroft Old Timers and the Maynooth Ranchers Hockey Teams. He was a longtime volunteer with the Maynooth outdoor hockey rink. Bill loved to hunt, fish and spend time at his sugar shack. He passed on his respect for the environment to his children and grandchildren. In his retirement, Bill discovered a passion for translating his love of the natural world into art, creating many paintings and carvings that will serve as cherished mementos for his family. He and Pat loved to spend time at their cottage and enjoyed frequent camping trips to Algonquin Park. Bill was selfless, faithful and a devoted family man. He will be dearly missed. Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Sunday, from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church (51 Hwy 127, Maynooth) on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Interment St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Maynooth and Area Foodbank, Hastings-Prince Edward Alzheimer’s Society, or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family.
