Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, with his wife, Dorothy and his family by his side. He was in his 89th year. Clemmie lived his entire life in Latchford Bridge and Palmer Rapids. He grew up on the family homestead where he took over as “man of the house” after his father passed away. He helped keep the family together and supported his mother through hard times. He met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Luckovitch at a Barry’s Bay dance and as they say, the rest was history. This May they would have celebrated 58 years of marriage. That marriage gave them 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Their love for each other was never more apparent than in the last weeks of his life. They were a true example of true love. He did not want to leave her, and she reluctantly let him go. Left to mourn him are his children, Tommy (Annette), Johnny (Leah), Charlene (Michael) and Anita (Tom). He will forever be remembered as Papa by his grandchildren, Shelley, Katlyn, Krista, Staci, Wyatt, Bailey, Jack, Paige, and Grace. He will be forever remembered as Papa Gum by his great grandchildren, Evanee, Leighton, Declynn, William, Hudson, Denver, Callum, Kolbe, Alice, Phoebe, Asher, Aviana, Landen, Bellami and Noxli. These titles, he held with great pride. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Johanna, his sister Jackie, and his brother Michael. Survived by his siblings; Terry (Sylvia), John (the late Gloria), Reggie (Lorraine), Martin (Bev), James (Jeannie), Patricia (Ed) Noreen. and his in-laws Robert (Kathy), Agnes, Martha, Sylvie, Karl and Marnie. As well as many other family and friends. He had a faith that never wavered. He will be remembered for serving mass, greeting and seating people and ringing the bells of St. Francis de Sales Church. He loved hunting and being at the camp, attending horse pulls, driving truck, calling square dances, listening to fiddle music, the Montreal Canadiens and spending time with his family. He loved to sit outside with Mom and watch the world go by. His quick wit and sayings could always get us laughing. He loved to reminisce and loved to chat. He could sit for hours and socialize with anyone. Often times it was chatting about the past, telling hunting stories (especially with Sparky), and just catching up with his family. He will be remembered as hardworking, loving, giving and a devoted Husband, Dad, Papa, and Papa Gum. Family was everything to him. He will be fondly remembered, dearly missed and never forgotten. This world was a better place with him in it! There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Latchford Bridge on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care, in his name would be appreciated.
