Bernard was a lifelong resident of Bancroft and 41 year partner of Vera Clark. He was predeceased by brother Jack (Betty) and sister Rose Adelman (Jim) and leaves brothers Jim (Tony) and Mike (Debbie), and sisters Dionysa (Lloyd) Scott and Mary Kavanagh. Bernard was stepfather to Karen Brethour, and extremely proud grandfather of Brendyn, (Yanita), Dylan and Evan and Bernard was so happy to have great-grandson Darbell to love and teach. He leaves behind many nephews and nieces. Bernard was very close to his grandsons, and son-in-law Glen (Mary) Brethour, and very proud of all their accomplishments together. Bernard loved teaching them, and working with them in the shop, but working in the bush and building and maintaining the bush roads with their tractor and backhoes was a very special time to him. In the nicer weather, any spare time they had, Vera & Bernard spent touring around the backroads in one of his old Jeeps. He made sure each of the boys also had one to enjoy. Bernard is well known to just about every municipality in Ontario, and some in other provinces due to his equipment selling, repairing, and demonstrations of how to use the equipment. His knowledge was greatly appreciated by many. Bernard was also a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where he attended every Sunday since childhood. There are no words to tell you how much Bernard will be missed by all of us, and how deeply we loved him. It is very hard to let him go, even though we know he is in Heaven. Bernard will be cremated, and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. A private family interment will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery. Thank you to the amazing caring community workers who made his passing as easy as possible for everyone.
