Storey, Bernard Glen

Known to all as BUD, passed away on Sunday, December 02, 2007, at Toronto General Hospital, at the age of 77.  Bud was a lifelong resident of the area and lived in Harcourt for more than 50 years before recently moving to Bancroft.  Bud faced his illness with a brave face and continued to always have a story or a joke for everyone he encountered – right up until the end.  He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years: Martha (Lillian) Storey.  He leaves behind his children who will miss (among many things) Dad’s sense of humor: Ed (Jean) Storey of Airdrie, Alberta, Karen (Mike) Hood of Bancroft, and Ben (Sandra) Storey also of Airdrie Alberta.  Proud grandchildren are Heidi, Kristofer, Michael, Tristian and Samantha  Bud is also survived by his sister Doreen (Ralph) Nemni, and brothers Eric (Helen) Storey and Don (Gail) Storey.  He was predeceased by his infant daughters Glenda Mae and Edith Isabella.  Also predeceased by brothers Gordon (Delores) Storey, Joseph (Blanche) Storey, and Ivan (Elsie) Storey. In respect for Bud’s firm wishes, no funeral service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Bud’s name to the Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital to benefit the Dialysis Unit.  (Cards also available at the funeral home (613) 338-3259 or e-mail condolences to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or visit www.mgdalyfuneralhome.com).  Bud’s family asks that you consider the following in his memory:You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he has lived.  You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left.  Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him or you can be full of  the love you shared.  You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.  You can remember him and only that he’s gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.  You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what he’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
