Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Orillia, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Gerald Olmstead, age 58, was the beloved husband of the late Deidre Saville (1982) and the late Margaret Shepherd (1992). Devoted and dedicated father of Cori (Sean Wheeler) of Maynooth. Cherished grandfather of Daniel, Abigail and Samuel. Loving and eldest son, of Floyd and Shirley (Humby) Olmstead of Maple Leaf. Brother of Elaine Weatherbee (Gord), Dale Olmstead (Holly), Sandra Phillips (Randy), Candace Begg (Steve), Vicky Olmstead, Paul Olmstead (Tanja), and Robin Bilsborough (Bob). Predeceased by his infant son Gregory Roy (1981), and his brother Roy. Gerald was a 15 year employee with Casino Rama, and will be missed by many friends and family. Gerald’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Rd., Maynooth), from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 02, 2011. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Father Tim Maindonald officiating. Cremation to follow at Lakefield Crematorium.
