Kuno, Marilyn Frances

It is with profound sadness that the family of Marilyn announces her passing on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Hospice North Hastings, Bancroft. She joins her husband Murray of 66 years in peaceful rest. Marilyn was born December 11, 1937, in Toronto to her parents Helen Elizabeth and W. Douglas Jackson. Marilyn preferred to shine the light on others and took great joy in their successes, especially her children, Stephanie (Hugh), Anita, and Paul (Vicky), who will deeply miss this quiet encouragement. As will her grandchildren Curtis (Hannah), Tom (Emily), Jessie (Gaige), Evan (Hannah), and her great-grandson Arthur. Marilyn will be missed by her brother Bill (Bev), sisters-in-law Anne (Gerry), and Linda, as well as many nieces, and nephews. Marilyn always wanted those in her circle of influence to reach their full potential. Nowhere was this more apparent than her 37-year teaching career at Haliburton Highlands Secondary School. During this same time period, Marilyn continued her own higher education via night school, correspondence courses, and summer school over 30 years to obtain her Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Waterloo in 1990. Marilyn loved cooking, organizing, and hosting family and friends. After retirement in 1994, while wintering at Tuscon Estates she was responsible for feeding 150 Canadians a Christmas dinner. Everyone was well fed. Even in her last days, she was organizing the upcoming Thanksgiving meal for her family. She will be fondly remembered by many former students and staff, the coffee chicks, Tuscon Estates snowbirds, friends in Haliburton and Maynooth, and family members. Marilyn’s family will receive relatives and friends at Graphite Bible Camp (702 Graphite Road, Maynooth) on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for Marilyn will take place at Christ Lutheran Church (9 Lutheran Church Road, Maynooth) on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Randy Liedtke officiating. Interment to follow at Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Maynooth. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice North Hastings, The Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
