It is with great sadness that the family of Charles McGuey announces his passing on September 15, 2026, at the age of 61. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Roderick and Margaret McGuey, and his nephew, Brandon Robertson.

Survived by his sons Peter and Stephen. Along with his wife JoAnn, though they lived apart in recent years, Charles and JoAnn remained each other’s closest confidant and dearest friend. He was a cherished brother to Bonnie Luckovitch and her husband, Bob, and Brian McGuey and his wife, JoAnne. Beloved uncle to Jessica Robertson, and her children Shayla and Blake.

A hardworking man throughout his life, Charles spent 35 years as a heavy-duty equipment mechanic, a career that reflected both his skill with his hands and his strong work ethic. His commitment to helping others extended beyond his career through his service as a volunteer firefighter, giving his time to his community and to those who needed him.

Charles was happiest outdoors and had a deep love and appreciation for nature and animals. Especially his dog, Chance, who he loved dearly. He also loved to work on small mechanical or carpentry projects in his spare time. More than anything, he will be remembered as a kind and hardworking soul who would never hesitate to help someone in need. Whether it was family, a friend, a neighbour, or someone simply needing a hand, Charles was someone others could count on.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, his sons, his siblings, extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his 61 years. His kindness, work ethic, generosity, and willingness to help others will remain a lasting part of his memory.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at St. Anthony’s Anglican Church, 131 Church Hill St., Whitney, ON, K0J 2M0 on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, 6290 Hwy 127, near McCoy Lake, Whitney, ON.
