Born June 10, 1936 in New Carlow, Ontario.  Murray passed peacefully, surrounded by family at Hospice North Hastings Bancroft, on June 19^th, 2026 in his 91^st year.  Survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Jackson) of 66 years.  During that time, they built their family of Stephanie (Hugh), Anita and Paul (Vicky).  They became grandparents to Curtis (Hannah), Tom (Emily), Jessie (Gaige), Evan (Hannah) and great grandparents to Arthur.  Murray was the son of Bill and Sadie Kuno who also lived into their 90’s.  He will be missed by his sisters Anne (Gerry) and Linda, as well as his brother-in-law Bill (Bev).  He will be joining his siblings that have gone before him, Lois, Marie, infant brother Orville and Lorna.  He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Murray was an avid outdoor enthusiast enjoying hunting, logging, making maple syrup, snowmobiling, camping, gardening and fishing.  He started the Haliburton Trout Farm in 1984 which is now the H.H.O.A. Haliburton Fish Hatchery.  He was a talented athlete playing both baseball and softball in his younger years being fleet of foot.  This young man met his future bride at the Bow Lake dance hall one summer.  They married the next year in 1959 and moved to Haliburton in 1960.  He learned to curl in the early 60’s, loving both the competition and socialization.  Having a passion for the sport, he became president of the Haliburton Curling Club in 1968 and again in 1979.  After retirement, Murray and Marilyn spent 17 winters at Tucson Estates Arizona playing competitive shuffleboard and making friends.

Murray had a 29-year career with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario.  Starting on the survey crew and working his way to Project Supervisor for Provincial Road Construction, Huntsville district. 

Murray always had a project on the go whether building houses (5 in total), digging ponds, developing a red pine plantation, woodworking or traveling, to name a few. 

Murray and Marilyn moved back to Maynooth in 2002 doing what they enjoyed best, visiting with friends and family, entertaining with abundant meals, playing cards and games, watching sports and telling stories. 

The family wishes to thank Hospice North Hastings, Ontario Health at Home, Community Paramedics and Care North Hastings for all their care, support and professional expertise.

At the family’s request, cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends and relatives at Christ Lutheran Church, 9 Lutheran Church Road in Maynooth, Ontario on July 18^th 2026 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. A service will be held at noon with Rev. Randy Liedtke officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date at Christ Lutheran Church cemetery in Maynooth.
