After a long-fought battle our family is heartbroken by Charlie's passing Apr 29, 2026, age 89, at The Willows Retirement Home, Fort Erie. Born in Toronto General Hospital in Toronto on July 10, 1936, Charlie was the beloved child of Edith and Alfred Roper. He was a devoted sibling to predeceased Clifford, Dorothy (Joliffe), Beatrice (Chase), Alfred, Jeanette (Hill). Survived by Violet (Pett) and Ellen (Swindle). Charlie lived a life marked by faith, hard work and integrity, a deep passion for his wife of 68 years, and an unwavering commitment to family. He was known for his humor, kindness and a generous spirit that touched everyone he met. His career with Bell Canada brought him immense satisfaction, and pride. Retiring in March of 1994. He loved dancing and taking long walks with his beautiful wife and playing endless games of cards. He was the family historian known for keeping detailed journals of his family and life. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Alice; predeceased children, Angel baby, Sharon, Christien, Graham and Christopher. Surviving: Son in law Craig Foss. Grandchildren, Ryan (Foss) wife Monica, Shannon (Gouin) husband Justin and deceased Daniel (Roper). Surviving great grandchildren: Landon, Lucas, Leeah, Maddisynn, Autumn and Hailey. He will be deeply missed by all his extended family, friends, and all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held to celebrate the life of Charlie at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Saturday, May 02, 2026. Visitation will take place from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. A reception and refreshments will follow at Holy Trinity Anglican Parish Hall, Maynooth. Cremation will take place with interment at Emmanuel Cemetery, Maple Leaf at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charlie's memory to The Canadian Red Cross Society where he was awarded a certificate in 1995 for making over 100 donations of blood.
