Adrianus Johanus “Ed” VanDerAa passed away peacefully at Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital in Bancroft on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the age of 74. Ed of Lake St. Peter was the beloved husband of Rose Heinbuch. Devoted dog Dad to Tasha. Ed will be lovingly remembered as a caring and dedicated father to Christopher and Lynette (Andrew), and their mother Linda Hamilton, as well as Shawn (Deborah), Shane, and Ryan (Tanya), and their mother the late Linda Mikel. He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Harley, Shayla (Dave), Phoenix, Loki, Brianna and Vanessa who brought him great joy. Ed will be missed by his siblings John (Julie), Joanne (Gary), and Jackie. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law Gloria, Bette (Terry), Richard (Carol), Brian, and Bonnie (Trevor). He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces Lynne, Cassie, and Alli, and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and close friends, especially Brenda Grant, Sherry Gloor, Dave Ormerod and Bob Gorgerat. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Betty VanDerAa and his sister Yvonne. In retirement, Ed embraced his love of the outdoors and travel, spending his days fishing, hunting, boating, riding his ATV, and enjoying new adventures. A private family gathering has taken place, followed by cremation. In memory of Ed, donations to the Sunbeam Community and Development Centre, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
