Fred passed away peacefully at the Valley Manor in Barry’s Bay in his 98th year. Predeceased by his wife Norma (Palbiski) (2010). Loving father of Bryon (Brenda), Gary (Phyllis), and Kathy (Jim Smith). Proud grandfather of Travis, Jeff, Kelly, Sarah and Kaitlyn and great-grandfather of Kammi, Fred, Jill, Emerson and Hudson. Also, he was predeceased by his parents, John and Beatrice, and siblings Kathleen, Nicholas and Michael. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was a long-term employee of McRae Lumber in Whitney. He loved the bush. He loved wood. After his retirement he kept busy in his workshop making axe handles for others and for the over 700 axes in his collection. Every axe had its’ own story which he was proud to share with anyone that came to visit. Based on Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place with plans for a service and internment in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in his name to St. Anthony’s Anglican Church in Whitney or the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Barry’s Bay. Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
