Watson, Allan Elgin |
Allan Elgin Watson, 82, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, at the Haliburton Extendicare after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Allan was born on September 16, 1942, and lived a full life filled with love, laughter, and hard work. A proud and dedicated employee of Oshawa General Motors for 30 years, Allan’s life was also enriched by the cottage he built on Benoir Lake, Harcourt. What began as a getaway quickly became his beloved home. A sociable and joyful man, Allan was known for his love of the outdoors. He found contentment in making maple syrup, chopping firewood, or tending to his yard. Unlike many, Allan took great pleasure in shopping, and his cheerful spirit and generosity brightened the lives of those around him. Allan was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Bancroft, fostering deep friendships and connections in his community. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, whom he married on September 21, 1963. Allan was a loving father to two sons: Gregory (Cindy) and Jeffrey, and cherished his granddaughters Taylor Wilson (Cody) and Nikita. He also leaves behind his siblings: Marion Fisk (Lorne) and Ralph Watson (Sue). The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Extendicare, whose knowledge, patience, kindness, and professionalism made Allan’s final months peaceful. We also deeply appreciate Dr. Bottum for his attentive care and advice during this time. A private spring burial will be held at South Wilberforce Cemetery, officiated by Daly’s Funeral Home. Allan’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Allan. You will be deeply missed. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
