Shockingly, at the Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital, Bancroft, on Friday, January 03, 2025. Joanne Styres of Apsley left this earth, her family and friends confused and bereaved. Jo was Linda’s baby sister for 61 years. Davey and Timmy both loved their cool uniquely hilarious aunt. At Christmas, little Dave just couldn’t wait to scare his great aunt with daddy’s creepy fake spider. Our sister will be missed and remembered by older brother Tim and his wife Henrietta. Nephew Ben and niece Kelly recently arrived from Vancouver will also share family sadness and grief. Joanne’s “cadre” of co-workers and friends were close like family, and she loved them all. My sister’s greatest wish was fulfilled by best friend Stacey who ensured safe, caring new homes for Jo’s small feline family. I’m sure the shock of Jo’s death has left us all feeling untethered, and at a loss for correct words. She leaves a void that will take some big shoes to fill. Joanne was a true character, and again uniquely hilarious. She packed humour with her wherever she went. Sayonara little sister, you were deeply loved and truly unforgettable. There will be no funeral service as per Joanne’s request. As expressions of sympathy, donations to an animal welfare charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
