It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Scott" McArthur. Scott passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on December 31, 2024 at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer. Scott, beloved husband of Susan (Snow) McArthur, loving father to Katy (& Dwayne), Jaki, and Rob (& Jesse), and devoted grandfather to Gordie and Jack. Scott is survived by his brothers Sandy (& Natalie) of Calgary AB, John (& Heather) of Bonita Springs FL, and sister Gill (& Alain) of Caraquet NB. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws, nieces and nephews. Scott was a well known and respected educator in the area who always thought that it was important to leave the world a better place than how you found it. Scott was an active member in the Lions Club of Bancroft, organizing vision screening in local schools, working tirelessly on the Santa Clause parade and Santa House in Bancroft. He was also a supporter of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. He was a skilled woodworker who loved making things with his hands. Scott loved visiting with friends and family, and would warmly welcome them into his home and make the house ring with laughter.
In keeping with Scott's wishes, he will be cremated and there will not be a service at this time, but rather a celebration of life later this year when the weather warms. In lieu of sympathies, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lions Club, or Lions Foundation of Canada Dog guides would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
