Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Hastings Manor in Belleville. Herb was married to his beloved late wife Betty (Creighton) Easton on January 28, 1961. He was predeceased by their daughter, Melody Norma Linda Smith on December 7, 2023, and is survived by grandson Christopher Musclow.  Herbert was born (and raised) in Palmer Rapids on August 6, 1939, to the (late) Starr Easton and (late) Elizabeth LaCombe Easton. He will be greatly missed by sisters Betty Ann (Bruce) Loney and Fern (Andre) Fremont, as well as their children. He was predeceased by siblings Eva, George, Jean (Norm Creighton), Fay and Shirley (Gordon Thompson) and he will be remembered by their families. Herb was lucky to have had a duo family of siblings, namely Wesley & Norma Easton, Viola & Walter Zywine, Garnet & Lillian Easton, Pearl & William Baxter, Ben Easton and Laura & Len Simons, who have all predeceased him.  Herb will be sorely missed by their families, especially nephew Lorne Easton and his daughter Jane, along with his niece Florence Williams, Lorne’s sister. Herbert will also be remembered by his wife Betty’s siblings – Bob & Clare Creighton, Phyllis Douglas, Linda Gaebel (David) and Carol Creighton, along with sister-in-law Mary Creighton (Arnold) and brothers-in-law Les DeVouge (Jean) and Ralph Woodcox (Norma). Predeceased by Betty’s other siblings Evelyn & Clayton Wilson, Patricia Brethour, Freda & Art Vardy, Jean DeVouge, and Norman Creighton.  Herb treasured family and enjoyed time with plenty of his relatives as often as possible, including many, many nieces, nephews and their extended families. Herb worked for GM in Oshawa for just shy of 31 years and retired to his home in Paudash in January 1996, where he thoroughly enjoyed spending time hunting at a family hunt camp and fishing many local and distant lakes, often with many of his brothers and nephews. He was a car enthusiast, especially older vehicles and loved working on cars when possible.  Herb had many special friends he made and kept through the years and loved the opportunities to talk and spend time with them. His stories will be missed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hastings Manor for their expert and loving care provided to Herb over the past 10 months. Herb is now at peace with loved ones he had been missing, and may he continue to Rest in Peace! Cremation has taken place, and he will be laid to rest in the spring, at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery in Bancroft when a Memorial Service will be held. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital. or Hastings Centennial Manor would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
