Agnew, Meghann Louise |
October 27, 1979 - August 19, 2024 If Meg were here we think she'd say... Believe me, I fought hard… for 5 years: surgeries, chemo, radiation and clinical trials but cancer got me and I was only 44. Way too young to leave all my family and friends to fend for themselves. How will my mother access her phone? Who will make the eggnog at Christmas? I leave behind my Mom and best friend, Cathy Agnew. Wynne (Dave) and Jodi (Mike), technically my aunt and cousin but we grew up more like sisters. Aunt Mary and Uncle John and Uncle Philip. Cousins Luke (Kassandra) and Behn. And all of Jodi and Luke’s kids, really my second cousins but to whom I loved to play the role of Auntie: Drew, Ryan, Ty, Max, Bayne and Nyah, sorry kids, no PJs at Christmas this year. And then there’s Great Aunt Elsie and all the extended Taylor family as well as those on the Agnew side. I was predeceased by my Grama Eileen, Grampa Murray and Uncle Fred who hopefully will meet me at the Pearly Gates. After graduating from HHSS in Haliburton I studied at Wilfred Laurier, graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours with Co-operative Option) and ended up in an accounting firm. I wasn’t a hunter or a fisherman so my family laughed when my accounting job at The Federation of Anglers and Hunters required me to get my boating, fishing and firearms license. I learned so much there. It was great working with all of you. I have to admit I loved wearing camo but was a little leery of the wildlife potluck dinners. During my battle I so greatly appreciated all the support from my colleagues at OFAH. Although I made my home in Peterborough, I was always drawn back to Wilberforce to help at the family store, (shopping was my superpower so buying-excursions to the Gift Show in Toronto were always fun). Taking long walks at the farm with Finny soothed my soul. Volunteering within the community energized my spirit. I loved to travel! Mom, hang on to all the fabulous memories we made in those far away places. I also loved to bake and cook and over the last couple of months oversaw the renovation of Mom’s dream kitchen. I won’t get to cook in it but I’ve left my touches everywhere. And I know my cats Manny and Cooper will be very comfortable there. Won’t they Mom? I appreciated all the efforts made at the Princess Margaret Hospital, the Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Lakeridge Health Oshawa. I know you tried your hardest to keep me alive. Hospice Peterborough, thank you for what you do. And a big shout out to all the folks who catered to my every need, and transported me about. I fear naming some in case I miss others. You all know who you are. If you would like to make a donation in my memory, please do so to any of the hospitals I’ve mentioned above or to Hospice Peterborough. Join my family and friends as they celebrate my life. It was a good life and I enjoyed every minute of it! Celebration of Life at the Lloyd Watson Centre, 2249 Loop Road in Wilberforce, Sunday September 22nd, 2024, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
