January 25, 1933 – February 23, 2023 Mom passed away peacefully, after a short stay at Oshawa General Hospital, where she was well cared for by her doctors and nurses. The family thank them for her outstanding care!! Norma is predeceased by her adventurous husband, Edwin Betson (2014). Survived by her three children, Cheyrl (Byron), Dale and Steven (Catherine). Loved grandmother of Jesse (Wendy), Michael (Janna), Benita, Jazzell (Chris), Kendra (Cameron), Taryn, and Riley. Great-grandmother of Leland, Sailee, Lily, and Leah. Mom was born and raised in Markham and married a successful farmer in 1953, where they continued to farm and raise a family until 1978, retiring to Bancroft on Baptiste Lake. Mom enjoyed her family, the outdoors, travelling, co-piloting for her husband, snowmobiling and taking care of her home on the lake. Grandma was well known for her back tickling, game playing, delicious tuna fish sandwiches, and Swiss steak. Not to mention she threw a mean horseshoe (beat dad every time!), soft ball and played a wicked game of ping pong. She will be missed by all of us. Love you Mom, Grandma, and GiGi. At this time there will be no visitation. A Graveside service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery (6150 Hwy#7, Markham), in the spring.
