Passed suddenly at Quinte Healthcare North Hastings Hospital, Bancroft on Friday, November 4th, 2022. Audrey Hawkins, age 80 of Hastings Centennial Manor, was the beloved wife of the late Edison Hawkins. Predeceased by her parents Gerald and Rose Fuller and siblings Ron, Elgin, and Geraldine. Survived by her siblings Gerry, Bob, Jimmy, Shirley, and Marilyn. Dear mother of the late Bob, Keith, and Linda. Survived by her beautiful children Jeff Hawkins (Debbie), Sherry Hawkins (Rodney), and Nancy Mountney (Dawson). Loving grandmother of Chloe (Victoria), Matt, Autumn, Justin (Alaura), Ryan (Victoria), and Lora (Reggie). Great Grandma to two little girls Georgia and Harriet. Audrey was born and lived her whole life in Bancroft. She spent some of that time operating a restaurant called The Burger Den and working as a Nurse's Aide at Centennial Manor. Audrey married Edison in 1960 and build their family home down Old L’Amable Rd. Later in life, she moved into the R.J. Brooks Living Centre and then moved to Hastings Centennial Manor in June 2022. When Audrey’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist. It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, she enjoyed working with others out in the community. Audrey was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Audrey’s grandchildren meant the world to her. Audrey enjoyed baking, reading, listening to Elvis, and watching western movies on TV. Audrey was a kind soul who will be loved and missed by many. As per Audrey’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Audrey’s Life and a Graveside Service will take place at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery (Hastings St. N., Bancroft) on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Canadian Cancer Society – Relay for Life would be appreciated by the family.
