Hunter, Stephen Laurence

Chief of Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini
Algonquin First Nation

Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital, Bancroft, on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the age of 53, from lung cancer.  Loving father of Neal, Sebastian, Douglas, and Zenon.  Son of Sandra (Ron) and the late Frederick (Donna) and brother of Robert and Lynn (Ron).  Loving spouse of Jenny, special friend of Janie, lifetime pal of Kenny, and hunting buddy of Cameron.  Beloved nephew of Lois and Earl Aggett, and Barb and Gord Berry.  Stephen was the Chief and a proud member of Algonquin First Nation (Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini First Nation), and an Algonquin Negotiation Representative.  He was ardent about hunting, fishing, and his First Nation Heritage.  He will be greatly missed, not only by his immediate family, but also by his many friends. Cremation has taken place.  The family will be having a private service to scatter Stephen’s ashes. There will be a “Celebration of Life” taking place at a later date.  Stephen was very passionate about helping others: the homeless, and those in need in our community; therefore, as expressions of sympathy, donations to A Charity of Choice within the community would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
