Logsdon, Edmond Brooke

B. Feb 26 1953 Windsor, Essex, Ontario

D. Dec 6 2021 Dragonfly Farm, Lake Saint Peter, Hastings Ontario

Brooke Logsdon: musician, carpenter, master story and joke teller died on Monday December 6th 2021 at his beloved cabin on Dragonfly Farm.

His free spirit and energy are carried on by his daughters, brothers, nieces and nephew, grandchild and extended family and friends from every walk of life.

You may be reading this and remember late night calls, record playing in the background, Brooke wanting to share a revelation he had about lyrics or a thought on a walk to the beaver pond. Or maybe you just said "Oh Brooke, it’s so late" (He did not have a sense of time).

Brooke loved to tell stories, part of them true, part a joke and you never knew which part was which unless you were somehow involved or in on it. He may have graced you with a song he wrote or coaxed you into having a beer and jamming in the gazebo under the stars and out in the woods.

Brooke was great at growing things, especially poopoo bush (that's what he called it). Craftsmen, artist, thrifter extraordinaire, his home exuded his fine and eccentric taste in collections no one else had. Velvet paintings, VHS tapes, marionette puppets, 8 tracks, records and paint-by-number renditions of The Last Supper.

He loved and was loved by a number of very smart, strong, intelligent and tall women which resulted in children and the raising of children as his own. All of which felt truly loved and cherished by him.

The lessons we all take to heart from Brooke are: Invite anyone into your home for a warm cup of tea and a place to rest, give others the abundance you have even if that means there is little left for yourself, Pick up hitchhikers even if they are a little sketchy and in need of a ride not even close to where you are headed, play music late into the night, sing and dance your heart out even if there's no one to do it with, pick up the phone and call the people you love and tell them, listen to people and offer your utmost attention and presence, respect nature and commune with it everyday, appreciate a walk in the warm summer rain and a dark, long snowy night, let all who come into your life warm their hands by your fire.

Brooke passed away at the home he built and loved. After meeting people at a music festival, he moved to Dragonfly in the 80's to pursue the life of his dreams. His soul is embedded in the nature surrounding the cabin he built to share with his friends and family.

Brooke is now reunited with his mother, favorite dance partner and avid joke teller, Susan Margaret Baxter.

Friends, Family and strangers he would have loved to meet will be invited to a memorial and celebration of his life sometime in the spring at Dragonfly Farm.
