Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, October 23, 2021. John Burke, age 73 of Maynooth, was the loved father of John (Jack) Burke (Gayle), Kenny Burke (Sheila), Cheryl Whiteman, Rick Burke (Kim), Patrick Burke (Natasha), and Kimberly Jackson (Joe). Loving grandfather of Rebecca, Josh, Dan, Miranda, Jared, Carter, Brady, Trayton, Danika, Camden, Kaden, Kyler, and Amelia. Great-grandfather of Johnny and Raylee. Son of the late James and Mildred Burke, and brother of Betty (the late Phil), Michael (the late Gladys), Jimmy (Alice), Lorne (Cindy), and Tom (Lori). Predeceased by his sister Harriet, and an infant brother Patrick. Sadly, missed by Barb Castleman his long-time friend and caregiver. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. John was a life-long resident of Maynooth for many years. John was a logger and farming by trade. He loved to hunt and fish and loved spending time with his grandchildren. John’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Wednesday evening 7:00 – 9;00 p.m. A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church (51 Hwy 127, Maynooth) on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Father Malachy Ekezie presiding. Cremation will follow, with Interment St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Cemetery, Maynooth. Due to COVID-19, strict visitation and service restrictions (mask wearing, social distancing, and contract tracing of guests) will be in place.
