Thompson, Phillip A.

Suddenly, on November 10, 2020, Phillip A. Thompson was taken home to glory.  He was 59, born in Vancouver, BC on January 13, 1961.

Phil was like sunshine in the morning, always happy at dawn.  He loved to laugh, loved to be silly, loved to make others laugh.

He was a gypsy of sorts, always on the move.  He loved visiting people and making friends.

More than anything, he loved music.  He knew the words to nearly every song.  He loved to dance.  He said that music had saved him when he was a boy.  He had an amazing voice and could imitate so many different artists.  Music was simply part of him.

He loved the outdoors and loved to fish.  He adored his cat, Simon, loved his little Beanpot, Emma, and kind of tolerated Elsa, our grumpy cat.  They miss him.

He looked after people, was always ready to lend a hand, blow snow, make a care package, or feed someone.  He had a good heart.  He also struggled with life.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

As his wife, I want to thank all those who made this unbearable loss a little easier, especially during Covid-19 when it’s so easy to feel alone.  Marina Clark, Ruth Cook, Susan Poste, the lovely people at Daly’s and all of the people who messaged and prayed.  You have blessed me beyond words.

Ev.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there.  I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gently autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there.  I do not sleep.
