Rev. John (Jack) Alan Morrison

Reverend John (Jack) Alan Morrison, 82, passed away peacefully with his children by his side after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.  He was born on January 21, 1936 to the late Jean (Cowan) and the late Edward Morrison.

Jack was born and raised in Toronto, where he graduated from U of T and then Emmanuel College in 1965.  Prior to becoming an ordained minister,  he began his career in Little Grand Rapids Indian Reserve in Manitoba.  He served as a United Church Minister for 32 years, in various cities and towns across Ontario.  Even after retirement, he remained involved and continued to be a minister where needed.  Even though Jack was born and raised in the big city of Toronto, he preferred to be in a smaller town, where he could enjoy the solitude, peace and quiet, natural beauty of his surroundings and the great outdoors.

Jack is survived by his children, Peter of Ottawa, Melanie (Steve) of Mississauga and Liane (Tim) of Manchester, NH, his grandchildren Paige, Riley & Hayden McNamara and Zachary Morrison Wall.  He is also survived by his former wife and morther of his children Connie (nee Boyd), brother William Morrison and several nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his sister Jean Bolton, her husband John, nephew William Morrison Jr. and sister-in-law Grace Morrison.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 24th, 2018 from 11 am-1pm followed by the funeral service at 1pm at St. Paul's United Church, 1 Hastings St. S. Bancroft, Ontario.  Interment at Emmanuel Community Cemetery, Maple Leaf, Ontario.

We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to everyone who recently expressed their love, support and prayers.  We would especially like to thank the Palliative Care Team of doctors and nurses at Brampton Civic Hospital for their kindness, gentleness, understanding and compassion to Jack & to our family.  We would also like to give a special thanks to everyone at Emmanuel & Grace United Churches, Brampton, who came to visit, sit, talk and pray with Jack and his family during this difficult journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jack's name to the Alzheimer's Society (Canada or USA) or the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
