Passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, at Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital, Bancroft, on Sunday, August 30, 2015. Bill Niemi, age 79 of Bancroft, was the beloved husband of the late Annie (Scott) Niemi (1992). Loving father of Rick Niemi (Marina) of Calgary, Kenneth Niemi (Dana) of Huntsville, Lynn Young (Elven), Kim Sicker (Sam) and LeeAnn Hanes (Chuck) all of Bancroft. Loved grandfather of Stacey (Joel), Jonathan (Rachelle), LeeAnne (James), Savannah (Mark), KellyAnn (Tim), Troy (Cora), Joshua, and Tiffany (Lynel). Great-grandfather of Leanna, Nolan, Axton, Taevin, Mason, Silas, Finley, Chloe, and Paige. Predeceased by his brother Eino, grandson Darrell and great-grandson Ryan. Fondly remembered by his cat Lily, and good friend Anna MacLaughlin. Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Saturday, September 05, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael West officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Rockyview Hospital Maternity Wing in Calgary, in memory of Ryan, or The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, in memory of Darrell, would be appreciated by the family.
