Passed peacefully away, at his home in Maple Leaf on Wednesday January 21 2015, at the tender age of 91. He was surrounded by his family in person and in spirit as he finished this journey and started another. Doug was the beloved husband of the late Alice Mae (Laundry) (1991). Loved father of Connie Dillabough (Marg), Beth Armstrong (Jack), Bonnie Minnie, Donna Melnick (John), Heather Burkholder (Chester), Joyce Olmstead Miles, and Peggy Patrick. Loving Grandfather of 26, Great-Grandfather of 36, and Great Great-Grandfather of 7. Brother and brother-in-law of Floyd and Shirley Olmstead, Lorne Olmstead and Emmett and Vivian Dillon. Predeceased by parents Ross and Geraldine (Pyne) Olmstead, his sons Eugene Dillabough and Grant Olmstead, his daughter Linda Loucks and his sons-in-law Bill Loucks, George Minnie and sister in law Alta Olmstead. Many remember him as a school bus driver as well as Owner/Operator of Maple Leaf Sand & Gravel “You Call, We Haul!” He loved telling jokes, his grandchildren, hunting and horse pulls, which he did for over 39 years. Doug was also a Municipal Councillor, representing the Townships of Bangor, Wicklow and McClure for many years. Doug’s family will receive relatives and friends at Graphite Bible Chapel (Graphite Road) on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Douglas Sargent officiating. Cremation will follow at Lakefield Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice North Hastings or Graphite Bible Chapel would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
