A long-time resident of the Cobourg area, died peacefully, on Sunday, April 20th, 2014 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre with her loving family surrounding her. In her 80th year, she was the beloved wife of the late Paul Ostroskie. Together, they were active members of the Maynooth community, where they raised their children. She was the beloved mother to: Geraldine Fitzpatrick (Ted Fitzpatrick) of Kelowna, BC; Dianne Stire (Gord Stire) of Belleville, ON; Paul Ostroskie of Port Hope, ON; Paulette Ostroskie (Steve Gaskin) of Oshawa, ON; Gilbert (Sylvia) Ostroskie of Oshawa, ON; Mary-Lou O’Donnell (Tom O’Donnell) of Cobourg, ON; Bryan Ostroskie (Lisa Kmith) of Cobourg, ON. Eileen loved to laugh and she shared this love with each of her grandchildren. She will be missed by: Olivine Jewel, Darrin Jewel, Melissa Stire, Tyler Stire, Robert Ostroskie, Kerrie Ostroskie, Wendy Dehler, Lucy Ostroskie, Cheri Peard-Ostroskie (Jay Peard), Travis Ostroskie (Sarah-Rose Treagus), Shawna Ward (Nick Bemma), Bobbie Vincent (Matt Vincent), Kristen Fox (Kevin Fox), Katelynn Ostroskie, and 12 great grand-children. Eileen was the second eldest of many brothers and sisters. She is survived by: Charles Minnie of Madoc, ON; Dorothy Ellis (Ken Ellis) of Keswick, ON; Carolynn-Minnie of Huntsville ON; Clara Curtis (Donald Curtis) of Keswick, ON; Allan Minnie (Jeannie Minnie) of Brighton, ON; Linda Ellis of Keswick, ON, and she will be joining her predeceased siblings: Eunice Ostroskie, Sanger Minnie, Marie Baumhour, Guy Minnie, and Melvin Minnie. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends were Eileen’s passion and delight. Eileen requested a celebration of her life. Eileen’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Thursday 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Visitation will also take place Friday morning 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Moses Nwosu presiding. Interment St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Cemetery in the spring. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness. Donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or Maynooth and Area Food Bank. Eileen’s greatest joy was to feed people.
