M.G. Daly Funeral Home Ltd.
Davis, Frances Therese

Quickly, on March 27, 2014, in the place she loved most, her Papineau Lake home.  She was born on the family farm in the Prince District of Saskatchewan, April 9, 1933, to Frank and Annie (nee Wielga) Charabin.  She attended school at Scentgrass and North Battleford, Saskatchewan.  After graduating from high school, Fran continued her education in Vancouver and trained as an x-ray technician.  While there, she met a handsome Canadian air force navigator by the name of Victor Davis, and on April 2, 1956, they were wed in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Children Sarah Anne and Michael Benjamin arrived in February of 1957 and February of 1958.  In 1959, Vic was transferred to the air force base at Trenton, Ontario.  Once the children were of school age, Fran went to work for more than 20 years at Trenton Memorial Hospital in the x-ray department, where she made many lasting friendships.  During those work years, she proudly supported Vic’s hard work to achieve his Bachelor of Arts and Law degrees and the commencement of his law practice, and Sarah’s and Ben’s university educations.  After Vic’s passing in 1983, she split her time between Trenton and their cottage at Papineau Lake, eventually moving to the lake full time in 2002. She was always an active woman who walked miles.  It was sad to see in her last years at the lake the toll that sciatic back pain took, limiting her mobility and causing dependence on a walker or a friendly arm.  She refused to leave the place she and Vic had so enjoyed together, and it was there she died.  Fran was predeceased by her parents, siblings Walter, Cecelia and David, and by her husband Victor.  She is survived by her remaining brother, Kashimir (Joan) Charabin, children Sarah (Bill) Roberts of Carrying Place, ON and Ben (Lorraine) Davis of St. John’s, NL, grandchildren Nicole, Daniel, Alicia, Katie, Maddie and Claire, and great-grandchildren Rachel, Cameron and Rylee  As she wished, there will be no funeral service.  If so desired, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada, 600 – 60 St. Claire Avenue East, Toronto, ON  M4T 1N5, or Hospice North Hastings, 27 Bridge Street East, Bancroft, ON K0L 1C0, or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.  (Cards available at the funeral home (613) 338-3259 or e-mail condolences to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or visit www.mgdalyfuneralhome.com).
