On the afternoon of Friday, January 26^th, 2024, surrounded by family and love, Ed peacefully passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital due to health complications. Son of the late Charles and Connie Reinhardt (nee Fox), he is survived by his soulmate of 31 years, Kim Sutherland, his son Mack, his daughter Hannah, and his brother Bruce. Ed will be remembered for his love of his family, friends, numerous pets, and his community. He shared his passion for outdoor activities with his beloved cycling friends, climbing partners, and hockey teammates. Those who were a victim of Ed’s quick wit knew that he did this with love. He always made time to enjoy a good cup of coffee and talk to those he cared about. He felt the love of extended family members during his life and from the many friends he considered family. His love of Kim, Mack and Hannah will forever help them navigate life without him. Ed will not be remembered for the health challenges he faced at the end, but rather as a man who loved deeply, lived life simply, and found comfort on the ice or on a trail. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank their extended relations for their support, and close family friends Katie and Noel Lobe for their loving care during this difficult time. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff in the Ottawa Health Network, and the various medical and pharmaceutical services he accessed within the local area, for his extraordinary quality of care over the past several years. Finally, they would like to extend their deep appreciation to their community for the messages of love and support that they have already received and will continue to receive in the coming weeks and months.  Respecting Ed’s wishes, a cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
