Storey, Martha Lillian

Martha Lillian Storey (nee Thomas), known to all as Lillian, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at the Quinte Health Care North Hastings Hospital, Bancroft, at the age of 71 years old.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and lived in Harcourt for more than 50 years before she recently moved to Bancroft.  Lillian was a hard working woman; she made the world’s best homemade bread: and she loved her family fiercely.  She enjoyed many activities throughout her life most recently (until her health prevented it) she loved to play Bingo with her many friends at the Harcourt Community Association.  She was a woman of immense faith and we take comfort in the knowledge that she has reached her heavenly reward and has been returned for eternity to the foundation of her beliefs and to the company of all of her dear loved ones who went before her.  She will be deeply missed by her children: Ed (Jean) Storey of Airdrie, AB, Karen (Mike) Hood of Bancroft, and Ben (Sandra) Storey of Calgary, AB.  Proud grandchildren are Heidi, Kristofer, Michael, Tristian and Samantha.  Her most recent joy was becoming a great grandmother to Orchid Rayne Storey.  Lillian is also survived by her sister Judy Peelo and numerous other relatives.  She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Bud Storey (who passed away December 2, 2007), and her infant daughters: Glenda Mae, and Edith Isabella.  She was also predeceased by her brothers Donald and Edward Thomas and her sisters Marion Kruger, Violet Cox, Adeana Wrightman, Irene Trolley and Joy Ross-Kruger.  An Open House reception, to celebrate the lives of both Lillian and Bud Storey, will take place at the Harcourt Community Centre, on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  A private interment will take place at Deerlake Cemetery, Highland Grove, in the spring.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to Community Care North Hastings Foundation (1 Manor Lane, P.O. Box 1786, Bancroft, ON K0L 1C0) would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.  (Cards also available at the funeral home (613) 338-3259 or e-mail condolences to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or visit www.mgdalyfuneralhome.com).
